PEOPLE TO KNOW:
Leslie Glickman’s journey began as a gym owner of Michael’s Body Scenes in Boca Raton, FL where she worked for many years. She taught step aerobics, was a personal trainer and then started dabbling her toes in the yoga world. She immediately fell in love with the practice and began teaching out of her local clubhouse in her neighborhood. She decided to open up a studio of her own and opened Yoga Journey on 12/12/12.
At Yoga Journey, Leslie offers daily classes and facilitates 200, 300 and 500-hour yoga teacher trainings. She has also been an ambassador with the Lululemon team for many years. Her primary focus is the deep love that she has of her community and on creating a space to bring them together. This passion runs so deeply that she keeps her prices to only $10 a class in the studio and offers a free yoga class every Saturday morning at 9am in Sanborn Square in Boca Raton, FL. During this weekly community practice, hundreds of south Floridians come out to enjoy the sunshine, air, music and Leslie’s beautiful yoga flow. She partners with local community businesses such as Raw Juce, Farmers Table and other small mom-and-pop shops to create a fun, loving, warm community activity for all to enjoy the sunshine. She teaches classes for all levels and all ages, from young to old. She adapts to the environment of the crowd and always implements modifications and hands-on assists when needed. She aims to keep her classes inviting and welcoming for all to experience, grow and fall in love with yoga just as she did! On top of her regular classes and teacher trainings, she travels with small groups around the country and world at least twice a year. Leslie intertwines her love of yoga, travel and community together by leading small groups to far-away blissful destinations from Bali to Africa to Italy to Sedona. Her next adventure will take her and twenty others to India in September 2017 where they will be submerging themselves into the heart and soul of the true spiritual essence behind yoga.
With her big dreams in the forefront of her mind she decided to offer “Something Big” on New Years Day – a free yoga class in Mizner Park’s Ampitheater in Boca Raton, FL! This wonderful gift to the community began in 2013 and attracted over 1,000 students, making it the largest free yoga class in south Florida. By 2016, the word had spread and the community expanded to almost 2,000. Even more are expected this New Years Day. The 2017 theme is “Now We Begin.” On a day when many are hungover, starting diets and beginning new things in life, she creates a space for us to simply BE. Leslie’s vision allows for the community to start the year off together in bliss. Something Big 2017 will feature live music by DJ Drez and sponsors including Zico Coconut Water, Trend Tea, Farmers Table, 21 Drops, Raw Juce and Zen Acupuncture. Registration begins at 10 AM and class starts at 11am.
Leslie is a mother of two beautiful adult children and wife of Andy Glickman, who is not only her partner in life, but also her partner at Yoga Journey. She is a loyal and faithful friend to many and prides herself on the relationships that she has with her students, teachers and community. Her kindness, compassion and spirit make her a role model to herself and others. With a huge heart, she lives her life with her arms and mind wide open to new and endless possibilities. She feels the most important relationship we can have is “with ourselves” … and she believes in dreaming big! Being around Leslie Glickman always makes you feel like you’re home.
