A global network of businesses, nonprofits and individuals working together for a healthy planet. More than $175 Million dollars given back to the environment.
We bring dollars and doers together to accelerate smart environmental giving.
1% for the Planet is a credible and accessible way to support the environment. It’s not always easy to know where and how to support good work. Most businesses and individuals don’t have the expertise to develop their own environmental giving strategies, and few have the time or resources to sort through the dizzying array of options for how to make a difference.
Join 1% for the Planet and leave that work to us. We save you time and money, and maximize the impact of your support by taking the lead in connecting you to our trusted nonprofit partners. By making smarter giving decisions, collaborating, and leveraging the 1% for the Planet brand to encourage everyone to purchase for the planet and do more, our network delivers shared value and greater support for environmental solutions.
When individuals and businesses join 1% for the Planet, they take responsibility and give back to approved environmentally focused nonprofit partners. A common misconception is that the money comes to us and then we grant it to various nonprofits.
This is NOT the case.
Members give directly to approved nonprofits of their choice and we certify this giving annually. Direct giving helps put dollars in the hands of doers quickly and efficiently and 1% for the Planet provides expert guidance.
Our organizational funding is generated from annual membership dues and direct donations. This supports the operations of our organization and fuels the future growth of our global movement.
Nonprofits are able to operate in sectors including and beyond where traditional markets exist. They’re able to address issues in a very specific and targeted way. And nonprofits are able to develop the necessary expertise to drive solutions in a way that no other entity can.
We are committed to building support for this essential work in our six core focus areas: climate, food, land, pollution, water, and wildlife. Use the links below to learn more about each of our environmental focus areas and to view nonprofits working specifically in these areas.
